Press Release

WASHINGTON -- George Farah, author of "No Debate: How the Republican and Democratic Parties Secretly Control the Presidential Debates," today sent a letter to Janet H. Brown, executive director of the Commission on Presidential Debates, challenging her to defend her recent statement that the Citizens' Debate Commission has been "disseminating completely inaccurate information about the Commission on Presidential Debates" in a public debate.

"The information we have been disseminating about the CPD and the presidential debates is true. Ms. Brown has stated that it is not. Let her prove that in a public debate. In fact, the CPD has a long history of disseminating false information, particularly about its "independent," "non-partisan" nature. It is clearly bi- partisan; the CPD was founded by the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee." said Farah.

The text of the letter is below:

Janet H. Brown

Commission on Presidential Debates

Ms. Brown:

You recently stated that the Citizens' Debate Commission "has persisted in disseminating completely inaccurate information about the Commission on Presidential Debates." I do not know what particular information you may be referring to, but as the executive director of Open Debates and a member of the Citizens' Debate Commission I am confident that everything my allies and I have said on the subject of the presidential debates is true, and I stand by every word of it. Our criticisms of the CPD can all be verified by facts. If you must persist in believing that what we say is not true, then I am more than happy to debate you publicly about the veracity of both our accurate statements, and the often misleading and deceitful statements issue by the CPD over the years. You have said that our information about the presidential debates and the CPD is "completely inaccurate." In fact, your statement is "completely inaccurate," and I am prepared to debate the issue with you so that the truth of what we say can be demonstrated publicly.

Sincerely,

George Farah

Executive Director
